The Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy teaches the art of Kage No Michi Ninjutsu; a modern style of Ninjutsu taught with and based upon traditional values and principles. Using the strategy and theory of the ancient Ninja, this martial art style emphasizes evasion, efficiency, and economy of motion using the entire body as a weapon. This is a comprehensive martial art that encompasses striking, joint locks, takedowns, throws, body conditioning, traditional and improvised weapons, ground fighting, and grappling. The techniques of this style are all based on the time-tested principles of Ninjutsu but are designed for practical, modern self protection for children and adults.
Kage No Michi Ninjutsu is an evolving martial art style. Although we thoroughly respect the traditions of all martial art styles, we constantly strive to improve the techniques of Kage No Michi Ninjutsu by finding and developing even more efficient methods of self defense. We do this by being open-minded about new methodologies and continuously evaluate current ones with respect to the changing martial environment. Our goal is to equip the student with the best tools possible to defend themselves and others should the need arise. We believe this creates founded confidence instead of a false sense of security due to ineffective techniques and training methods, which can have devastating results.
The goal of Kage No Michi Ninjutsu is to strip away inessentials and focus on what works best in all the ranges of combat. Since our goal is self defense, our core curriculum does not focus on the performance elements of the martial arts that have become mainstream today. Kage No Michi Ninjutsu teaches students to strike vital areas and finish a situation quickly rather than accumulate points or prestige, as an example.
Kage No Michi translates to "The Way of the Shadow."
