Sports Enhancement Training is a unique, youth martial arts training philosophy that maximizes class productivity and reduces downtime by incorporating sports-specific drills along with traditional martial arts training in order to better prepare athletes year-round.
Multi-Purpose Training
Teaching essential self defense skills is our primary goal at The Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy. However, we also believe in "maximizing potential in all areas of a student's life", including the sports they love to play! We believe martial arts is the perfect environment for cultivating top-notch athletes and giving them the edge they need while also teaching them valuable self defense and life skills they can't learn elsewhere.
On a daily basis, we incorporate drills and games designed to keep athletes sharp and ready in the off-season, for the upcoming season, or during their season. Not only do these drills develop sports-specific skills, they combat student burnout by keeping the class interesting and fun.
Areas of Improved Performance Besides self defense skills and character development, martial arts has many benefits for sports performance including the following areas:
Reflexes
Balance
Full-body Coordination
Reaction Time
Agility
Aggression
Comfort Level with Contact Sports
Mental Toughness
Breakfalling and Rolling
Opponent Control
Accuracy
Testimonials Our students participate in a variety of sports outside of martial arts and have already seen the benefits first hand. See what some had to say:
"Carlos has been a Way of the Shadow student for about a year and currently holds a blue/black belt. I strongly believe that his training at the Way of the Shadow Martial Arts academy has helped him in other sports. Depending on the season, Carlos plays baseball, soccer, basketball, and flag football. Being a Way of the Shadow student has definitely helped Carlos in agility, reflexes, and has helped built his stamina. As he progresses in ranking I am certain I will continue to see the positive effects that his training will have in any other sport he chooses to become involved in as I most definitely see with his sister who obtained a black belt at the Way of the Shadow."

"Paul has been doing Ninjutsu for approximately 7 years. The focus that this has created for other sports is absolutely exceptional. Not only has it created strength in his body, it has also has created an inner strength which helps him push harder than other athletes. I have also seen the way a lot of people fall when they get tackled, tripped, or hit in different sports and have witnessed many injuries because they weren’t taught to fall or roll properly. When these situations happen to Paul, he is able to roll through with no problems due to what he has learned at The Way of the Shadow. He is also very respectful to his opponents’. Watching him take a free kick in soccer is like watching a strong adult take a kick. There is a power in his legs that is unmatched by most people his age. We thank you and are very grateful to the way Paul has grown in the Ninja family!!"
